This, in my opinion, is the most important post yet. There is a huge reason that we have not completely lost our gun rights and that is a very strong lobbying force. I highly suggest researching a state program for you to become a member of. As far as the national ones, I am aware of these two.
The NRA- The NRA is at the forefront of our fight against wrongful gun control. I have been a member of the NRA since age 18. They have publications, a political victory fund, news broadcasts and all sorts of things. They are the big mighty gun lobby that politicians are afraid of. I donate additional money to the NRA every time I feel like the anti-gunners are getting out of hand.
The GOA- Gun Owners of America is a smaller lobbying group that tends to rarely side with a democrat, even a pro gun democrat... Naturally I am also a member of GOA. They are more of a no compromise gun lobby and it becomes more evident when the NRA buddies up with the likes of Harry Reid.
I would have to say, despite a few screw ups, I find the NRA to be the more effective lobbying group, because of brute size and reach, if you only have the money to join one it is the one I would join. I STRONGLY suggest that all gun owners that love the second amendment join one or both of these lobbying groups. These groups are the only thing that stand between the politicians and our guns.
Gun owners should realize it is a constant fight to keep the second amendment. It is exactly why I started this blog.

The thing is, if the Texas licensed open carry deal is publicized by the NRA, the brady bunch will find out about it and make it look like the devil.
The only time the NRA should mention this outside of emails to members should be when the brady bunch have already picked up on it.

They dont have a leg to stand on. OC works in the majority of states. If it doesnt pass it is our crappy legislature's fault.

I see. Well I hope it passes. I don't want to have to worry about getting in trouble if it accidentally reveals itself.
I don't have a CHL yet though, of course...

Well TXCOP and TXinvestigator would lead you to believe that you wont get in trouble. Yet it is completely up to the cop to decide what your intentions were. If the cop said you intended to show your gun you will be arrested. The law should not be written with these variances in it, not every cop is the same.

+1, though i'm sure Texascop is probably going by what him and his cop buddies probably would have done.
Why was texasinvestigator banned?

In my opinon open carry is a bad idea. Arizona just changed from open carry to consealed. If you worry about printing or revealing your weapon then you need to look at other holster options or trade the superblackhawk for something more practical.

Arizona has both boom, citizens can choose to do either depending on the circumstances. I support this bill because I support the choice to do either one. If this meant that I had to open carry I would not support it.
There are many states out there with the option. OC is not an issue in any one of them. I would likely CC the majority of the time if I passes but there are times when I would like to be able to legally carry in a more comfortable blackhawk holster. Hikes with the dog, on my boat, at hobo ridden gas stations (they'll think I'm a cop and leave me alone), in my vehicle. I just think it would be a good advancemen of gun rights in Texas when the majority of other states are fine with it.

The problem lies with the guy that carries on his hip that has no ability to go hands on. The bad guys disarm those guys in a heartbeat.

There are many diferent scenarios in which I would rather CC and there are many when I would rather OC. I do admit that I an active shooting were occurring there is no doubt that I would want to be concealed when it started.
However OC has the ability to prevent personal robberies, muggings and stuf like that. In side of places of businesses I would never OC.
